THE THIRD WOE – THE SEVENTH Trumpet                              Revelation 11:13-19                                       FBC-PC 11-24-13 am


I. THE ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE THIRD WOE - 11:13-14

God of Heaven” cf.16:11 O.T. term; 2X in Revelation

Recognizes His existence and power

Great earthquake destroys a tenth of Jerusalem killing 7,000

II. THE SEVENTH TRUMPET SOUNDS – 11:15

This last (seventh) trumpet is sounded in the second half to announce

judgment upon the earth. The “last Trumpet” of I Cor. 15 is the forward call

of the church before the tribulation. Don’t confuse the two. Another trumpet

is sounded at the end of the Tribulation calling (gathering) the people of Israel

back to God and the land of Israel. Matt. 24:29-31

A. Message of the 7th Trumpet

The Kingdoms of this world have become the Kingdom of our Lord and

His Messiah. Ezek. 21:25-27; Zech. 14:9; Dan. 2:35,44; 7:13-14

B. Messengers of the 7th Trumpet Judgment –

Many voices – Angels, Living creation, 24 Elders, all around the throne

C. The time of the Announcement

At the blowing of the 7th trumpet of judgment which issues in

7 Bowl or Vial Judgments, which are the worst and quickest of the three judgment sets.

 

III. THE WORSHIP OF THE TWENTY-FOUR ELDERS 11:16-18

Their Worship is of Praise and Thanksgiving

A. Cause of Rejoicing – Psalm 2:9

Note: Strength ascribed – “power”, “Almighty”, ie. Authority,

Almighty ability –power; Part of the Elder’s worship or Revelation to John

 

IV. EVENTS MARKING THE REIGN OF CHRIST 11:18

Summary of the ending of the times of the Gentiles cf. 6:16-17; Psa. 2:4;

The wrath of man is impotent; The wrath of God omnipotent.

The wrath of man is wicked; The wrath of God is Holy.

V. THE OPENING OF THE TEMPLE OF GOD IN HEAVEN 11:19; Ex. 25:10-22

This verse connects chapter 11 to chapter 12

Ark of the Covenant seen – pattern for the tabernacle of Ex. 25:10-22

Rev. 4:1; 15:5,8; Heb.

Explosive events in the heavens and the earth Rev. 8:5; 16:21

Beginning with verse 19 – John reviews the history of the whole seven year

Tribulation period from the stand point of the chief participants in it.

11:19-14:20 Before the pouring out of the final vial or bowl or bottle judgments.
